Meter Calibration Technician (Winnipeg) Weights & Measures Inspector NOC 2262

A Cantest Calibration Technician is a skilled technician who is adept at problem solving. Calibration Technicians require a broad skill base including mechanical aptitude, electrical/electronic knowledge, an ability to apply mathematical formulas. This position requires both physical and mental exertion. This position will be attractive to problem solvers, people who like new challenges or developing new solutions to existing challenges. People who like to travel and work by themselves. Candidate would be required to travel to service stations throughout Manitoba, Saskatchen and Western Ontario. Be independent, self managing, very well organized and responsible for a company work truck. In house training program.


Evaluate and certify dispenser meters at retail service station using electronic computerized reference prover system.  Perform volumetric test measures, meter analysis and minor repairs. Daily data entry and files transfers through computer system.  Maintain and repair other fuel/liquid handling equipment.  Willingness to travel throughout Manitoba, Saskatchen and Western Ontario.  Maintain equipment and vehicles.

Security and Safety:

  • Pre-Employment Drug Screen – no negative results are accepted, including Marijuana
  • Full Drivers’ License – a graduated license is not accepted
  • 3 or 5 year Driver’s Abstract with less than 4 minor convictions and/or 1 major conviction.  Speeding is an example of a minor conviction, an at fault accident is an example of a major conviction.
  • Clean Criminal Background Check

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Day

Flexible work schedule

Salary: $55,000.00 to $75,000.00 Yearly, Commission, Bonus, Health Benefits, Pension Plan

Skill Requirements:Education: Completion of high school, Some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Previous Measurement Canada Certification, Full Driver's licence, TSSA Petroleum Mechanic Level 1 and 2, Standard First Aid

Experience: In House Training

Languages: English &/or French

Own Tools/Equipment: Safety glasses/goggles, Gloves, Steel-toed safety boots

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Hand-eye co-ordination, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver's licence (graduated license not accepted), Willing to travel regularly, Travel expenses paid by employer
